São Pedro do Sul
At many places in the district of Viseu sulphuric warm waters come to the surface. There are several thermal resorts in the area, where these waters are used for therapeutic purposes. The largest of these (and the largest of the Iberic Peninsula) is São Pedro do Sul on the banks of the river Vouga, which attracts 25.000 vistors a year. The dominating presence of the river, and the hotels in the “grand” style of the 19th century, give São Pedro do Sul the typical atmosphere of a traditional spa.
São Gemil
The one closest to Quinta de Bispos, at about 15 minutes by car, is Sangemil, which draws it´s medicinal waters from the river Dão. Sangemil also has a nice riverside beach.
