Environmental Policy

Being a “green” hotel is very important to Quinta de Bispos.
We have applied for the European Ecolabel. When we obtain it, we will be the first hotel on the Portuguese mainland with this label.

In the construction of Quinta de Bispos we have taken care to use materials with excellent heat (as well as sound) isolation properties.
All windows have double glazing, and we have solar panels for hot water and electricity. Wherever possible, we have used water based paint with the European ecological label.
The swimming pools use the latest ionization techniques for disinfection, which minimizes the need for chloride.
The waters from the sewers are biodegradable in a special tank, and used for irrigation.
All waste is separated, and organic waste is composted.
The great majority of the lamps (wherever possible) are energy-saving. The lights shut off automatically when a room is unoccupied.
