The European Eco-Label
Quinta de Bispos is the first "Hotel Rural" and the third company in the tourism sector in Portugal that has received the European Eco-Label.
Since Quinta de Bispos has obtained, on the 30th of September 2008, the European Eco-Label, the guests can be sure of the attention and respect given to the environment. A big part of the Quinta's electricity is produced by photovoltaic solar energy, the water and power usage is efficiently monitored, the Quinta uses less damaging chemical products, and only when those products are necessary, the waste produced is reduced to a minimum and adequately managed, and there are many more ecological measures taken. All the personnel has been briefed on ecologically correct procedures. The goal of the European Eco-Label is to help the european consumers choose high-quality ecological and environment-friendly products.Modern environmentally sustainable technologies are used to regularly evaluate and improve Quinta de Bispos' environmental performance.

Environmental Policy
In the construction of Quinta de Bispos we have taken care to use materials with excellent heat (as well as sound) isolation properties.
All windows have double glazing, and we have solar panels for hot water and electricity. Wherever possible, we have used water based paint with the European ecological label.
The swimming pools use the latest ionization techniques for disinfection, which minimizes the need for chloride.
The waters from the sewers are biodegradable in a special tank, and used for irrigation.
All waste is separated, and organic waste is composted.
The great majority of the lamps (wherever possible) are energy-saving. The lights shut off automatically when a room is unoccupied.
