Tondela
Tondela is the city nearest to Quinta de Bispos, at about 15 minutes by car. Although it is not culturally as rich as nearby Viseu, there are some fine old buildings to be found here, and the old part of the town has a nice atmosfere.
On Mondays, there is a large market. A unique feature of the Tondela municipality is the Caramulo mountain ridge, which dominates the view in a large part of the Besteiros Valley. The mountain ridge is an ideal place for walking and other outdoor activities.
For those with a historic interest, there are the many traces of the past that have been preserved in the Tondela region. Prehistoric monuments, remains from the Roman occupation, old churches and ancient manor houses can all be found here.
